Taurasi Earns Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors
 PROVIDENCE,
RI (Jan. 13) - Junior Diana Taurasi (Chino, CA) of the Connecticut
women’s basketball team was selected Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week
for the second consecutive week,
named by the league officials on Monday, afternoon. Taurasi shares the
honor with Rebekkah Brunson of Georgetown. Taurasi helped
UConn win two BIG EAST games, averaging 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5
assists in the two match-ups. In the 67-62 victory over Rutgers, Taurasi
dropped 24 points, including three 3-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds.
The All-American junior scored 18 points and ripped down four rebounds in the
69-57 victory over Virginia Tech.
The University of Connecticut returns to action on Wed., Jan. 15,
against BIG EAST rival Seton Hall at Walsh Gym in South Orange, NJ.
Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. |
