Turner Earns Second Consecutive Weekly Honor

PROVIDENCE, RI (Feb. 17) - Freshman Barbara Turner (Cleveland, OH) of the Connecticut women’s basketball team received was named Co-BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week announced by the league officials on Monday, morning. Turner shares the honor again this week with Cappie Pondexter of Rutgers.

Turner who receives the honor for the fourth time averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebound in two BIG EAST victories.  Against Syracuse, she recorded a game-high 18 points and grabbed five rebounds.  Turner then scored a game-high 18 points and ripped down a game-high eight boards in the win Sunday against Seton Hall.  For the week Turner shot 52 percent (11-21) from the field and 86 percent (12-14) from the foul line.

UConn returns to action on Wed., Feb. 19 against Miami at the brand new Convocation Center in Coral Gables, Fla.  Game time is set for 7 pm and can be seen locally on CPTV.
