— A six-run fourth inning by the Eagles led Boston College over the University of Connecticut baseball team
10-4 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action
at J.O. Christian Field.
With the loss, the Huskies drop

Boston College wasted no time as

hits put the Eagles up 1-0. But UConn answered back in the bottom of
the inning, taking a 4-1 lead. Senior Gordon Stevens (Vista,

runners advanced as freshman Pierre LePage (Wolcott, Conn.)
earned a walk from Boston College's John Leonard. With the bases
loaded, Elliot Glynn (Los Alamitos, Calif.) hit a line drive
up the middle hitting off Leonard's leg, as Stevens came home to
score the Huskies' first run of the game.
Senior Pat Mahoney (Des
Moines, Iowa), who is on a nine-game hitting streak, sent a double
into right field to pick up two RBIs as both Brantley and LePage
scored. Freshman Mike Olt (Branford, Conn.) followed with a
ground out to third base but was able to get Glynn home to pick up
the Huskies' fourth run of the inning.
In the fourth inning, Boston
College pounded the UConn pitching staff, as they recorded six runs
and four hit. Barry Butera picked up his sixth homerun of the season
as he blasted a shot over the right field fence to add to the Boston
College lead.
The Eagles added three more runs
in the top of the seventh inning, as they forced three straight
walks from relief pitcher junior David Erickson (Stratford,
Conn.). Erickson pitched one inning and allowed one hit, three walks
and three runs.
