Three Men’s Soccer
Players Named to the NSCAA/adidas All-New England Squad
Moloi and
James Earn First Team Honors, Forko Receives Second Team Honors
STORRS, Conn. (Dec. 9) -- Three
University of Connecticut men’s soccer players were named to the NSCAA/adidas
All-New England teams on Thursday. Freshman Julius James (Maloney
Gardens, Trinidad) and junior Mpho Moloi (Soweto, South
Africa) earned First Team honors, while junior Willis Forko (Houston,
Texas) received a spot on the All-New England Second Team.
James and Moloi both appeared in all 23 games for the Huskies in 2004 with 20
starts each and were selected to the 2004 All-BIG EAST Second Team. James posted
two goals on the season for four points. Back on Oct. 18, James was named BIG
EAST Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office after playing a key
role in the Huskies’ 173 minute shutout streak that week. He helped
Connecticut hold Boston University (Oct. 12) and Rutgers (Oct. 16) to only seven
shots in the 2-1 and 1-0 wins, respectively and notched the game-winner in the
107th minute of UConn’s 1-0 double-overtime win against Rutgers.
Forko tallied two goals and three assists for seven points and appeared in 23
games with 20 starts in 2004 and was named to this season’s All-BIG EAST Third
Team. |
