STORRS, Conn. (May 27, 2004) — Junior college standout Rashidat Sadiq
(Epe Lagos, Nigeria/Central Arizona College) has signed a national
letter-of-intent to attend the University of Connecticut and play for the
Huskies beginning this fall, UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma
announced today.
Sadiq, a 6’2" swing forward out of Central Arizona College in Coolidge, is
the fourth member of the Huskies’ 2004 signing class.
A two-time first-team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
All-America choice, Sadiq will arrive at UConn with two years of eligibility
remaining.
A native of Nigeria, Sadiq is planning on returning home this summer to
compete on the Nigerian National Team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens,
Greece, prior to her arrival in Storrs.
