Gerard Martin
Strength and Conditioning Coordinator

The strength and conditioning program for the University of Connecticut is under the supervision of UConn Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Jerry Martin. Martin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction (CSCS*D) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as a Certified Level I Coach from the Unites States Weightlifting (USAW). He is entering his 18th year at the University of Connecticut and has had previous experience at Yale University and at Syracuse University. He has been a finalist for the National Strength Coach of the Year Award (1994, 2001) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and received the prestigious award in 2004. He has also been the Head Strength Coach for the USA Women’s Field Hockey Team that took the bronze medal in the 1994 World Cup. Coach Martin earned his masters degree in Exercise Training and Testing. He is also a conference speaker at both the regional and national levels.

Chris West

Chris West is currently the associate head coach for strength and conditioning at the University of Connecticut. Prior to his appointment at University of Connecticut he served as an Athletic Trainer at Saint Louis University and was later appointed as Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. West also has experience serving strength and conditioning and athletic training internships with the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Kings and a graduate assistantship with the Seattle Seahawks. He earned his Bachelors degree from California State University at Long Beach in Kinesiology and Masters Degree in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Oregon.  Coach West holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, the National Athletic Training Association as a Certified Athletic Trainer, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist.


Amanda Kimball

Amanda is in her fourth year at the University of Connecticut. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in health and fitness through the Department of Sports Medicine. She graduated with her Master's in applied exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning from Springfield College in 2004. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is also a Certified Level I coach from the United States Weightlifting (USAW).

Maureen is in her third year as an assistant strength coach. She received her Master’s degree in exercise physiology through the Kinesiology Department at Connecticut in 2005. She also earned her Bachelor's degree in fitness management from Connecticut in 2003. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is also a Certified Level I coach from the United States Weightlifting (USAW). She is a former field hockey student-athlete at UConn.

Drew is in his second year as an assistant strength coach at Connecticut. Drew’s primary responsibility is with the football team. Drew received his bachelor’s degree from Kings College in 2000 in Criminal Justice Sociology. He graduated with his Master’s degree from Springfield College in 2004 with a degree in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning. Drew is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is also a certified level 1 coach from the United States Weightlifting (USAW).

Brittny is in her second year as a graduate assistant at Connecticut. She is currently pursuing her degree in Exercise Physiology through the Kinesiology department. Brittny received her bachelors degree in Exercise Science from The College of New Jersey in 2006. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

James is in his second year as a graduate assistant at Connecticut. He is currently pursuing his degree in Exercise Physiology through the Kinesiology department. James received his bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2006 with a degree in Exercise Sport Science with a Fitness emphasis concentrating in Strength and Conditioning. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is also a certified level 1 coach from the United States Weightlifting (USAW).
