Assistant Athletic Trainer
A familiar face to the program after working with the team as a graduate
assistant, Brian Gallagher returned to the UConn football team in June of 2006
as a full-time athletic trainer. Gallagher aides Bob Howard with the team’s
injury care, prevention and rehabilitation, while also helping to supervise a
staff of five athletic training students.
Gallagher spent the 2005-06 year at Trinity College in
Hartford where he worked with a half-dozen Bantam teams. He served as a graduate
assistant trainer at UConn from 2003-05, spending the 2003-04 year with the
Husky field hockey and women’s lacrosse programs and the 2004-05 season working
with the UConn football team as it made its historic march to the Motor City
Bowl. Gallagher also gained experience as a student trainer at West Chester
University and Ursinus College, including a season of work with West Chester’s
football program in 2002. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers
Association.
A native of Archbald, Pa., Gallagher earned a bachelor’s
degree in athletic training with a health sciences minor from West Chester in
2003 and a master’s in kinesiology from UConn in 2005. Gallagher resides in
Mansfield, Conn.
