Eddie Stawinski
Eddie
Stawinski, a former standout libero at Springfield College begins his first
season as an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut.
Stawinski
joins the UConn coaching staff after solid playing and coaching careers at
Springfield, where he earned a bachelors degree in business management in 2005,
followed by a masters degree in physical education in 2008.
As a professional men's volleyball player for the Caribes de San Sebastian in Puerto Rico,
Stawinski had much success in 2005 and 2006, where he finished second in the
league in digs ('06) and was the runner-up in the league's Rookie of the Year
voting ('05). As a libero, he led his Springfield team to two Division III
National Championship titles and was selected as a Division III First Team All
American in 2003-04 and 2004-05. He also holds the record for career digs with
the Springfield men's program.
Stawinski spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Springfield program, as
he handled the instruction of team blocking strategies, opponent scouting and
recruiting. In 2005, he was the head coach for the East Longmeadow junior
varsity girls' volleyball team and assisted with the varsity program as well.
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Stawinski currently resides in
Springfield, Mass.
