NEW YORK – The 2023 Empire Classic, scheduled for Nov. 19-20 at Madison Square Garden and featuring defending NCAA men's basketball champion UConn, Indiana, Texas and Louisville, began ticket sales on Wednesday, May 18, to the general public.
However, Husky Athletic Fund members will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase tickets to this event in the UConn allotment at a later date. Allocations will be based on donor level and priority points. Stay tuned for information regarding purchase details for HAF members. First-round match-ups for the event are still to be determined. The tournament benefits the Wounded Warrior Project.
UConn, 31-8 in 2022-23, dominated the 2023 NCAA Championship, winning each of the six games by double digits to capture the program's fifth NCAA National Championship in the last 24 years. The Huskies will be making their fifth appearance in the Empire Classic, which they won in 2013.
As for the rest of the Empire Classic field, Indiana finished the 2022-23 season at 23-12 and reached the round of 32 in the NCAA Championship. Texas was 29-9 this season and made it to the Elite Eight. Louisville will be out to regain its former glory after a down year in 2022-23.
