Former Huskies McCann, Molinaro Tabbed for WUSA

STORRS, Conn. -- Two former University of Connecticut women's
soccer players were picked Sunday in the Women's United
Soccer Association (WUSA) four-round supplemental draft.
These two players join National Team member and former
UConn star Sara Whalen who was allocated to the leagues
New York Power before the draft and five other former
UConn standouts.
On Sunday, the following Connecticut players were drafted by the WUSA:
Round Position Name Team 4 Defender Chrissy McCann Boston Breakers 3 Midfield Lauren Molinaro Bay Area CyberRaysPlaying in 100 career games at UConn, Molinaro in tied for second in games played with McCann on the all-time list. In her four years as a Husky, she has recorded 22 goals and 22 assists for 66 points, and was a three-time All-Big East selection. Molinaro was a vocal leader both on and off the field and was a natural selection as the Husky's 2000 tri- captain.
McCann ended her career for UConn with 100-career games played sitting tied with Molinaro at second. McCann tallied nine goals and assisted on 22 others for 40 points, earning All- American honors in her senior year.
Molinaro and McCann will join former Husky's Kerry Connors (New York Power), Carey Dorn (Bay Area CyberRays), Naomi Stone (Carolina Tempest), Jennifer Tietjen (Philadelphia Charge), Margaret Tietjen (San Diego Spirit) and Whalen (New York Power) in the inaugural season of the WUSA in April.
