UConn Softball Players Receive Postseason Honors

STORRS, Conn. - After a successful 2001 campaign with a BIG EAST Conference Championship title in hand and eighth trip to NCAA Tournament play, the University of Connecticut softball team had three of its own garner postseason honors.
Senior shortstop Jessica Yanosy was named a 2001 Northeast Region First Team All-American as she finished her Huskies' career having played and started in 205 consecutive contests. The Milford, Connecticut native graduated with a degree in communication sciences with an emphasis in marketing/advertising from UConn and secured her place in the all-time school record books in numerous statistical categories. Yanosy also received First Team recognition by the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) and was named to its Division I All-Star Team. She batted a team- leading .338 and had a 12-game hitting streak this past season with 22 multiple-hit games.
Joining her on the list of NEISCA All-Stars were sophomore outfielder Nicole Dubovik (Coral Springs, Fla.) as a First Team honoree and senior utility player Megan Biddle (Bear, Del.) as an Honorable Mention selection. Dubovik was UConn's second leading scorer with a .314 batting average, 18 sacrifice hits, 14 stolen bases and a .979 fielding percentage in leftfield, while Biddle was the team's top slugger with a .440 percentage, six home runs and 25 RBIs. She also shared time in the circle, pitching seven complete games with eight victories in 26 appearances. Biddle finished her four-year career third all-time in strikeouts with 304.
