Men's Golf Places 10th at New England Championships

BREWSTER, MASS. (October 22) – The University of Connecticut men’s golf team shot a final round 330 to finish with a 640 overall and place in a tie for 10th out of the 47 schools competing in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass. UConn’s 640 (+64) equaled Babson College’s two-day total and was 40 strokes behind Rhode Island, which comfortably took the title with a 600. The event is open to all NCAA Division I, II and III schools in New England and featured a field of 232 golfers.
Justin Ciombor and Mike Murphy tied for 36th overall to lead the Husky golfers. Each shot a 157 (+13) for the tournament. Ciombor’s 80 was the team’s high score for today’s action. Mike Hornug tied for 51st overall with a 160 (+16), Dan Keefe tied for 93rd with a 166 (+22) and Nathan Thomsen tied for 156th overall with a 174 (+30) to round out the UConn contingent.
UConn will wrap up its fall season at the John MacDonald Classic, Oct. 28-29 in Galloway, New Jersey.
