UConn Falls to No. 1 Miami

MIAMI, FL (October 5) -- The University of Miami posted a 48-14 college football victory over the University of Connecticut on Saturday night at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla. The win improves nationally ranked No. 1 Miami's record to 5-0 on the season while Connecticut drops to 2-4.
Miami dominated the game and led at halftime by a 42-0 score. Miami running back Willis McGahee scored the first three touchdowns of the game-two of them on 15-yard runs and another on an 11-yard run.
Miami made it 28-0 when Andrew Williams returned a fumble 56 yards for a touchdown. Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey threw a pair of touchdown passes to Kevin Beard of five and eight yards to complete the first half scoring.
The two teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter as Dorsey threw a 15-yard pass to Ethenic Sands with 9:18 left in the quarter and UConn broke into the scoring column as quarterback Dan Orlovsky threw a 14-yard pass to Tommy Collins.
UConn scored the final touchdown of the game when Ezra Carey blocked a punt and returned it five yards for the score.
McGahee was the game's top rusher with 107 yards and three touchdowns, while Dorsey was 19 of 26 in the air for 216 yards and three touchdowns. Orlovsky was 11 for 26 for UConn with 100 yards and one touchdown while Collins had three receptions for 40 yards.
UConn returns to action in 2 weeks when it plays host to Temple in a 12-noon Homecoming game.
