Barakat Named to Soccer America's Freshman All-America Team

BERKELEY, CA (January 24) - Soccer America Magazine unveiled their selections for the 2002 Women’s Freshman All-America Team on Wednesday. The University of Connecticut’s Brittany Barakat (Arlington, TX) was among the 11 players chosen for the squad.
In her rookie season, Barakat scored 12 goals for the Huskies, including four game-winners, to lead the freshman scoring effort. Barakat was awarded numerous honors throughout the season, including a spot on the UConn Classic All-Tournament Team, two BIG EAST Player of the Week honors (one for co-offensive player and one for rookie) as well as being named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team post-season.
