Taurasi Named Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI (Jan. 6) - Junior Diana Taurasi (Chino, CA) of the Connecticut women’s basketball team was selected Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week named by the league officials on Monday, afternoon. Taurasi shares the honor with Jessalyn Deveny of Boston College.
Taurasi averaged 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the Huskies two victories last week. Against No. 5 Tennessee, Taurasi hit the three pointer to send it to overtime and the jumper with 51 seconds left to give UConn the lead for good, en-route to her game high 25 points. At Florida State, Taurasi dumped in 18 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in a 74-55 victory over the Seminoles. Taurasi earned the honor for the third time this season.
Connecticut returns to action on Wed., Jan. 8, at 7:00 p.m. against Rutgers at the Hartford Civic Center.
