STORRS, Conn. — Meghan Schnur, the 2003 Co-BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, was named to the U.S. National Under-19 Team that will play in the FIFA World Championship Nov. 10-27 in Thailand. The native of Butler, Pa., completed her freshman campaign ranking third in Husky assists with nine. Her five goals also tied for third-highest on the team. After an impressive first season, Schnur earned only the second conference rookie of the year honors in school history and a place on the Soccer America All-Freshman Team. She will redshirt the 2004 season while playing with the Under-19 team.
Schnur joins a talented national team looking to defend its 2002 World Championship title, the first such contest in Under-19 international women’s soccer competition. In 2002, the U.S. Under-19 team went 17-1-0 in international games, including all six wins on the way to the World Championship crown.
