Volleyball Inks Four To Letters of Intent

STORRS, Conn. (February 10, 2006) - The University of Connecticut volleyball team has signed Devon Farrell, Jessica Isaac, Kate Seabaugh and Bridget Denson-Dorman to National Letters of Intent for the 2006 season, Head Coach Holly Strauss announced on Friday.
Farrell, an outside hitter/right side, is a native of Moraga, Calif. A first team All-Diablo Foothill Athletic League honoree following both the 2004 and 2005 seasons while a member of the Campolindo High School volleyball team, Farrell also received the Most Inspirational Award from her teammates in 2004 and the Coaches Award in 2003. She was a member of the Golden Bear Volleyball Club Forefront 18s team that finished 13th in the National division at the Junior Olympics in 2005. Farrell is currently a member of the NorCal Volleyball Club. In addition to her volleyball awards, she was elected as the Campolindo student body secretary in her senior year.
Isaac, a libero, is a native of Erlanger, Ky. A three year varsity player at St. Henry District High School, Isaac was named the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Player of Year and the Northern Kentucky Coaches Association Player of the Year following the 2005 season. Also that season, her team won the District 32 and Region 9 Championships before finishing as the state runner-up. Isaac was named the Most Valuable Player of the Region 9 Tournament. As a member of the Northern Kentucky Volleyball Club 17-National team, Isaac was named to the USA Volleyball All-Tournament team while her team finished fifth at the Junior Olympics. Isaac also participated in basketball at St. Henry and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Seabaugh, an outside hitter, is a native of St. Louis, Mo. A four year starter at Cor Jesu Academy, Seabaugh was the team captain during her senior season and was honored as the team's Most Valuable Player following both her junior and senior seasons. A first-team All-Missouri selection both her junior and senior seasons, Seabaugh is only the second player in Cor Jesu history to record over 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills for her career. As a member of the Team St. Louis Club team, she finished third in the 17 Open division of the Junior Olympics in 2004 and fifth in the 18 Open division in 2005. She is now a member of the Southwest Illinois Juniors. Seabaugh is also a four year starter on the Cor Jesu basketball team and is the president of Cor Jesu Academy.
Denson-Dorman, a setter, is a native of Golden Valley, Minn. An All-State honoree in 2005 as a member of the Hopkins High School volleyball team, she was also a team captain in 2004. A member of the All-State Tournament team in both 2003 and 2005, Denson-Dorman was honored as a member of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune All-Metro second team and the St. Paul Pioneer Press All-Metro first team in 2005. She was an AAU All-American in 2002 and 2005 as a member of the Northern Lights Volleyball Club. Denson-Dorman also received the Best Setter Award at the Memorial F. Cornacchia-Alla Miglior Palleggiatrice Tournament in Italy.
Said Strauss, "We are excited to officially welcome Devon, Kate, Bridget and Jessica into the UConn Volleyball program. We believe all four players will be great additions to the program. While all four of our recruits are talented volleyball players, they all encompass the strong character we look for in our student-athletes. We feel very fortunate that these four players have chosen to attend the University of Connecticut and look forward to the impact they will have on our program."
