Men's Tennis Drops 6-3 Match to Queens College

FLUSHING, N.Y. (February 16, 2007) - The University of Connecticut men's tennis dropped a 6-3 match to Queens College on Friday afternoon in Flushing, N.Y.
Due to Queens College being a Division II school, each doubles match was worth one point for a total of nine in all.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomore Joey Michaels (Rochester Hills, Mich.) and junior Christian Malerba (Derby, Conn.) teamed up for an 8-4 win over Lucas Moraes and Arthur Heinline. Junior Nate Carvalho (Freetown, Mass.) and freshman Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) got an 8-4 win over Costas Efstathion and Jimmy Delevante at No. 3 doubles.
Freshman Joe Goldstein (Tucson, Ariz.) defeated Moraes at No. 3 singles 7-6, 6-7 (10-8).
At No. 1 singles, sophomore Ben Schueler (Arlington, Mass.) was defeated by Qojciech Stuchlik 6-0, 6-1 while at No. 2, Michaels fell to Billy Almeyda 6-4, 7-6. Malerba lost at No. 4, 7-5, 6-4 to Efstathion.
Carvalho dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match to Delevante at No. 5. Cook lost at No. 6 to Heinline 6-3, 6-3. Schueler and Goldstein were defeated in doubles action at No. 1 8-5 by Stuchlik and Almeyda.
UConn is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 18 when the Huskies host Holy Cross for a 6 p.m. match.
