Huskies Drop 6-3 Decision to Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The University of Connecticut baseball team fell short against Seton Hall 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in South Orange, N.J. in BIG EAST Conference action.
The Pirates put together a two-run second inning and a three-run fifth inning to halt a Huskies' rally late in the game to come up with the victory. UConn falls to 13-14 on the year and 3-5 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall improves to 14-11 and 5-3 in the league.
The Huskies were led by Harold Brantley, who had two hits in five at-bats and one RBI. Senior Dale Brannon earned two hits on the afternoon, while freshman George Springer went 2-for-4 for the Huskies.
Sophomore Elliot Glynn took the loss for the Huskies on the mound as he threw five innings as he allowed three hits, five runs (two earned) and four walks, while striking out four. Glynn's record drops to 2-3 on the year after the loss. Seton Hall's Cantwell dominated on the hill for the Pirates as he recorded a complete game with nine innings pitched as well as allowing 10 hits, one earned run en route to his fourth consecutive victory. Cantwell improves to 4-0 after the win.
A majority of the Huskies' runs came in the seventh as Springer led things off with a triple before Peter Fatse reached on an error before sophomore Mike Nemeth scored.
UConn will return to action tomorrow on Sunday, April 5 when they finish the three-game series with thier finale at Seton Hall beginning at noon. The Huskies will travel to UMass on Monday, April 6 for their next match-up and their second of the season against the Minutemen.
