Huskies Clinch Spot in 2009 BIG EAST Baseball Championship

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut baseball team has clinched a spot in the 2009 BIG EAST Baseball Championship after the Huskies' 20-6 victory over Villanova on Thursday afternoon.
The Huskies (32-22 overall, 13-12 BIG EAST) have two more games against the Wildcats, Friday at 3:45 p.m. and Saturday at 12:15 p.m. to finish out 2009 regular season play, but after picking up their 13th win in BIG EAST action on Thursday they have clinched a spot amongst the top-eight of the conference.
The championship tournament will be held on Tuesday, May 19-Saturday, May 23 with opening ceremonies being held Monday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m. at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla. Games begin Tuesday morning with the No. 3 and No. 6 seeded teams facing off at 10:00 a.m.
UConn will find out its tournament seeding on Saturday night after the completion of all BIG EAST regular season games. For more tournament information check out www.BIGEASTBaseball.com.
