Adelman Headed To Maccabi Games

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut incoming sophomore Ali Adelman (San Diego, Calif.) was selected to compete for the United States softball team at the Maccabi Games in Israel this summer. Approximately 60 countries will be participating in the games, which is going on its 18th year of competition.
The Maccabi Games is an international Jewish athletic event similar to the Olympics that began in 1932. The Maccabi is held in Israel every four years under the auspices of the Maccabi Federation, a part of the Maccabi World Union. It is sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee and World Federation of Sports. The Maccabiah Games is one of the five largest sporting events in the world by participation, and is considered a Regional Games by the International Olympic Committee.
During her freshman season with the Huskies, Adelman came into the games in relief of starting pitchers Trisha Sullivan and Rachael Crossin. She pitched 11.1 innings allowing eight earned runs in seven appearances sitting down nine by the way of the k.
Adelman also came in as a pinch runner for the Huskies scoring six runs. She went 1-for-2 at the plate driving in a run.
