STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma was the keynote speaker at the 2009 Fall Convocation, which was held on Friday, August 28 at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.
The University traditionally begins the academic year with a gathering at Gampel Pavilion called Convocation. This official welcome event at UConn for first-year students, their parents and family marks the only time prior to graduation that the entire Class of 2013 gathers as one.
This is a time for everyone - students, parents, faculty, and staff - to meet one another, talk about the University, and articulate some of the ideals that define us as a place of learning and growth.
The Class of 2013 Fall Convocation was held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 5:00pm in Gampel Pavilion. Immediately following the ceremony, students and their parents, faculty and staff were invited to an outdoor all-University picnic hosted by President Hogan on the Mall next to the Student Union.
Auriemma, who was named as the head coach of the U.S. National Team this summer, will be leading the Huskies this coming season as they attempt to defend the program's sixth NCAA National Championship.
