Opening Statement:
This week we've got Rhode Island who is the oldest opponent we've been playing at the University of Connecticut. Looking at the their offense they use a no huddle offense. The thing that's interesting is that they've only turned the ball over one time in two games and they've only allowed one sack. We need to prepare just like any other week and earn the right to win.
On the Rhode Island playing style:
Offensively, it all starts with their quarterback Chris Paul-Etienne. He's very athletic and he buys time in the pocket with his ability to move around. He presents a tremendous challenge for us this week. Defensively they like to pressure, they've created eight turnovers in two games, for a turnover ratio of plus-seven, which is tremendous. They've also scored two defensive touchdowns in two games.
On the outlook of the team coming off of a big win at Baylor:
It's the same as always-last week doesn't matter this week and we need to take each game one at a time. We still haven't played our most complete football game yet and we're just trying to make improvement from week three to week four. We had a little more bounce in our step Sunday at practice and I think these men know that you're only as good as your last game. We've got a big game coming up this Saturday against a tremendous opponent and I made sure the team understands we need to earn the right to win all this week before we can go out there and fight for it.
On former UConn TB Donald Brown's touchdown on Monday Night Football:
I was asleep and my son came running in so I saw the replay, and I also saw the reception he had earlier in the game. It just gets back to what I said-Donald has earned his right to get on the field and to get those opportunities. Once he gets those opportunities he's going to perform because that's the kind of guy he is.
On Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon's work at TB:
They both have their unique ways of helping us move the ball with the running game. Andre was a little bit more tackle-to-tackle while Jordan's the outside guy this past week. They both can do those other things, and they complement each other well. In this day and age I think you need to have two quality guys. We list on the depth chart, but to me they're both starters because they're both going to play. It keeps them both fresh, but it keeps them both hungry to perform.
