SCOUTING HARVARD: This will be the first game for the Crimson during the 2009 season.
SERIES HISTORY: Harvard and UConn have met 27 times in the past with the Huskies holding a 22-4-1 lead in the series. The series between the two teams is one of the longest in UConn women's soccer history as it began during the first year of the program.
In the first 24 years of the UConn soccer program the Huskies met up with Harvard at least one time a year, but in 2003 the teams did not compete against each other.
They resumed the series in 2004 and met in both the regular and postseason but have not met since then, UConn is currently on a one-game winning streak.
The Huskies are 11-1 against Harvard at home.
SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT: The Blue Devils have played two games so far this season and are 1-0-1 on the year. CCSU started their year off at the TD Banknorth Classic at the University of Vermont. They posted a 1-0 win in their season opener and battled the host team, Vermont, to a 2-2 tie in their final game at the tournament.
SERIES HISTORY: UConn and CCSU have met eight times in the past in a series that began in 2000. The Huskies took the first seven meetings between the two teams but suffered their first loss to the Blue Devils last season at Morrone.
In five games played against Central at Morrone Stadium, the Huskies are 4-1.
LAST TIME OUT: The last time the Huskies took to the pitch was at the Penn State Tournament where UConn faced off against a couple of the best soccer programs in the country.
UConn kicked off their season against BYU and remained in a 0-0 deadlock with the Cougars for the first 85 minutes of play, but in the 86th minute, a BYU header off of a corner kick was all that the Cougars would need as they hung on for the final four minutes of play to win the game.
UConn wrapped up their time at the PSU tourney with a game against the host and No. 8 team in the country, Penn State. The Huskies got out to a quick start when Jessica Shufelt scored the Huskies' first goal of the season, and the first goal of her career in the third minute of play. PSU was able to tie the game up before the end of the half, but UConn pulled ahead once again in the second half and held the lead for the majority of the half. But Penn State turned their 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win by scoring two goals in a matter of three minutes handing the Huskies their second loss of the season.
TOP TEAMS: In the 20 games that UConn played during the 2008 season, they took on six top 25 teams. At the Penn State tournament, the Huskies faced then ranked No. 5 Florida State. Two weekends later, at the UConn Classic, UConn had to take on two top 15 teams in No. 1 UCLA and No. 15 Penn State (now ranked 4 and 25 respectively). UConn took on No. 15 West Virginia on their home turf on Oct. 12 which ended in a 0-0 decision. Against the current No. 1 team in the country, UConn played well losing the match to Notre Dame 2-0. In the Quarterfinal Round of the BIG EAST tournament the Huskies took on Georgetown and won 2-1. The Hoyas were ranked 23rd in the country going into the game.
