Football's Witten Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Connecticut senior defensive end Lindsey Witten (Cleveland, Ohio) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in the Huskies' win at Ohio on Saturday.
Witten keyed Connecticut's defense that limited Ohio to just 247 total yards and 16 points in the Huskies' 23-16 road win. He had five tackles and three sacks and gave Connecticut a safety with an end zone tackle of the Bobcat quarterback.
UConn sophomore running back Jordan Todman (North Dartmouth, Mass.) was named to the league's honor roll. Todman ran for 157 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries against Ohio.
Cincinnati senior quarterback Tony Pike was the Offensive Player of the Week, while West Virginia freshman kicker Tyler Bitancurt was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
