Providence, R.I. - A trio of University of Connecticut golfers have been named to the 2009-10 All-New England First Team, one month after leading the Huskies to the team title in the 37th Annual New England Division I Golf Championship at Triggs Memorial Golf Course.
Sophomores Adam Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) and Jeb Buchanan, along with junior Matt Dubrowski each earned a spot on the First Team. Vaccari tied for individual medalist honors in the event, losing in a playoff and finishing second overall. Buchanan finished in fifth place, two shots back of Vaccari. Dubrowski finished in a four-way tie for sixth, three shots off the lead.
All three Huskies helped UConn to an eight-shot win over Sacred Heart for the team title, giving UConn the New England double for 2009-10. The Huskies won the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship in October. Dubrowski also earned All-New England honors in the fall after finishing tied for eighth.
Vaccari and Buchanan were also each named to the 2010 All-BIG EAST Conference Golf team, announced last week by the BIG EAST.
