DeLazzer Signs with Traverse City Beach Bums

STORRS, Conn. - Former UConn pitcher Trent DeLazzer signed a professional baseball contract with the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League on Wednesday, June 23. DeLazzer, who played for the Huskies for four seasons and was a captain to the 2010 squad, currently holds an ERA of 1.23 in 7.1 innings of work with the Beach Bums.
Prior to joining the Beach Bums, an independent league team, DeLazzer played in 18 games for the Butler Blue Sox of the Prospect League, a summer collegiate league, where he was 2-2 with a 0.77 ERA in 36.1 innings. DeLazzer has struck out four of his 28 batters faced with Traverse City as he has appeared out of the bullpen four times for the Beach Bums so far in 2010.
DeLazzer and his new ballclub are third in the East Division of the Frontier League with a record of 25-23.
