Huskies Drop a 6-1 Decision to St. John's

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis team fell to St. John's 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in BIG EAST Conference action.
The Huskies came out strong and captured the doubles' point with wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, led by senior Andrew Marcus and junior Scott Warden in the No. 1 spot.
Jai Yoon and Dave Adams went on to win their doubles' match 8-5 after Warden and Marcus won by a convincing 8-5 score.
UConn battled in singles' play, falling short in No. 2 and No. 6 singles as Warden won his first set 6-1 before St. John's Mike Lampa came back to win the next two 7-5, 10-6.
Wei Lin also lost in the tiebreaker as he won his first set in convincing fashion, 6-2. Lin then lost the final two sets 7-6 (4) and 10-3.
Yoon fell in the No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-3 but also competed in a close-fought battle. Lin and Ricardo Cardona were edged 8-6 in doubles' play as the Huskies tried to sweep the doubles' competition.
UConn will next face St. Francis on Sunday, April 10 in a 10:00 a.m. match-up in Storrs.
