STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut's student radio station, 91.7 FM-WHUS has committed to covering all 56 regular season UConn baseball games this season, plus post season. This kind of coverage has never been available, but shows the rising significance of the Huskies' program after reaching the NCAA Super Regionals in 2011.
WHUS, a student-run organization, is a familiar face around Connecticut athletics providing live play-by-play action of many UConn sporting events, including, but not limited to football, basketball, hockey and soccer. In the past, WHUS has provided live coverage for home baseball and select road games. Last year, WHUS was along for the ride all the way from the BIG EAST Tournament in Florida to the NCAA Super Regionals in South Carolina.
This year, WHUS will begin broadcasting live from St. Petersburg, Fla. when the Huskies face Indiana in the Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge on opening day, this Friday at 4:00 pm. Live coverage of that game and all others on the UConn schedule can be found on 91.7 FM or streamed online at www.WHUS.org.
