STORRS, Conn. - Sophomore guard Lauren Engeln has decided to transfer from the University of Connecticut women's basketball program, as announced by head coach Geno Auriemma on Monday.
"Lauren is a great kid and has been a great teammate over the last couple of years," Auriemma said. "She was a valuable member of this program and worked really hard on the court and in the classroom. Recently, she expressed an interest in getting closer to home and I can understand that. I wish nothing but the best for Lauren, and her family, in the future."
Engeln, a native of Laguna Hills, Calif., saw time in 55 games during her two years at UConn. She averaged 1.4 points in 6.5 minutes per game.
