Huskies Picked Sixth In Preseason Coaches Poll

STORRS, Conn. - The BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. announced today that the UConn women's lacrosse team was chosen sixth in the 2013 Preseason Coaches Poll. Connecticut earned 26 points and was tied with Louisville.
Syracuse was the unanimous preseason favorite by the league's coaches with all eight first-place votes points and 64 points. Loyola was chosen second with 57 points, followed by Notre Dame (48), Georgetown (44) and Rutgers (36).
The Huskies earned 26 points in the preseason poll after finishing 2012 with a 10-6 overall record, including a 3-5 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
The Huskies return eight of the top-10 scorers from last season, but must replace the top-two scorers in two-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection M.E. Lapham (48G-14A-62P) and Kiersten Tupper (27G-15A-42P).
Senior goaltender Brittney Testa has started 31 of a possible 32 straight games for UConn and recorded career-bests with a 11.00 goals against average and a .462 save percentage in 2012. UConn returns 2012 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Lauren Kahn (30G-11A-41P) in the midfield for her junior season.
Syracuse senior attack Michelle Turnolo was chosen as the unanimous Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Syracuse senior Becca Block is the league's unanimous preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
