HAMILTON, N.Y. ââ'¬" The University of Connecticut women's basketball team will head to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Cotterell Court in the Reid Athletic Center. The game will be televised on SNY and streamed live on ESPN3. Fans can also listen to radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Sports Radio Network.
The top-ranked Huskies (6-0) have won 43-straight games, including Saturday's 91-81 victory over third-ranked Notre Dame in front of a sell-out crowd in Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. Senior Breanna Stewart (North Syracuse, N.Y.) led UConn with 28 points and 10 rebounds for her 28th career double-double and third of the season. Redshirt-junior Morgan Tuck (Bolingbrook, Ill.) was spectacular as she tallied 21 points and went a career-high 9-of-13 from the free throw line. Senior Moriah Jefferson (Glenn Heights, Texas) and freshman Katie Lou Samuelson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) both finished in double figures, 14 and 13 points, respectively.
On Monday, Samuelson earned her first league honor as a Husky after being named the American Athletic Conference's Freshman of the Week. The rookie averaged 11.5 points and shot 61 percent from the field in UConn's wins over No. 23 DePaul and the Irish.
Stewart will be entering the contest with 303 career blocked shots and 297 career assists. If she dishes-out three more assists, she will become the only player in NCAA history to reach the 300-block, 300-assist plateau.
Connecticut is 4-0 all-time against Colgate. The last meeting between these two teams came on Nov. 28, 2012 for a 101-41 Husky win in Hartford.
Senior Josie Stockill's 17 points and 14 boards weren't enough in the Raiders' 63-56 loss to Binghamton on Monday. Colgate currently holds a 1-5 record this season.
UConn has won its last 86 games versus unranked opponents, dating back to a 57-56 loss to St. John's on Feb. 18, 2012. Since the 1993-94 season, the Huskies boast an incredible 542-9 (.984) record against unranked foes, including a current stretch of 263 wins in 264 such contests.
