UConn Battles Rutgers In Storrs On Saturday

The Game
The UConn women's lacrosse team (3-3) returns to the George J. Sherman-Family Sports Complex on Saturday (1 p.m. ET) for a home match against former Big East rival Rutgers (1-4). The contest will mark Connecticut's third game in Storrs this season, and it will be the 18th meeting between the two schools. The Huskies, who are 2-0 at home in 2015, sport an all-time record of 4-13 against the Scarlet Knights in a series that dates back to 1998.
Last Time Out
Connecticut attackers Carly Palmucci (Herndon, Va.) and Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) registered six points each to lead UConn past Quinnipiac, 18-8, on Wednesday afternoon in Hamden, Conn. The 18 goals marked a season-high for the Huskies, who earned their first road victory of the season with the win.
Freshman midfielder Kelsey Catalano (Stony Brook, N.Y.) added a career-high five goals, while sophomore midfielder Emily Giumetti (Duxbury, Mass.) scored her first career goal with less than a minute left in the match. UConn's 31 points (18 goals, 13 assists) and 29 ground balls were also a season-high, and Connecticut improved to 31-15 all-time against in-state opponents following Wednesday's victory.
Scouting The Scarlet Knights
Rutgers, losers of four straight, fell to No. 13 Penn, 17-7, on Wednesday at home. The Scarlet Knights are winless (0-2) in both of their road matches this year, dropping games to Fairfield (Feb. 21) and Delaware (Feb. 28). Junior attacker Kim Kolodny leads all Scarlet Knights this season with 13 points on 12 goals and one assist, while senior attacker Melissa Arthur has totaled a team-best seven assists.
Goalkeeper Candice Dandridge has played every minute in the cage for the Rutgers in 2015. She sports a goals against average of 11.54, and her 47 saves this season are good for the eighth-best mark among Division I keepers. Rutgers scored just seven goals in each of its last two matches after averaging 10.7 goals per game through the first three contests of the season. The Scarlet Knights average 23.2 shots per game and sport a scoring margin of -2.80 on the year.

After Saturday, the Huskies will resume their road schedule next weekend (March 14) on the road against No.3 Boston College. The match gets underway at 1 p.m. on the Newton Lacrosse Field in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
