TULSA, Okla. - The No. 1 University of Connecticut women's basketball team is heading back out on the road for a Wednesday night tilt against Tulsa at the Reynolds Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET on SNY with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
UConn (18-0, 8-0 The American) dominated its matchup with SMU, 90-37, on Saturday behind a game-high 19 points from senior Moriah Jefferson (Glenn Heights, Texas). Classmate Breanna Stewart (North Syracuse, N.Y.) was just shy of recording a quadruple double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, nine blocks and seven assists, all without playing a single second in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs' 25 turnovers resulted in 32 points for the Huskies.
After bumping the win streak to 55 straight, the Huskies now own the three longest winning streaks in NCAA Division I women's basketball history, all under head coach Geno Auriemma.
Stewart will enter Wednesday's contest with 997 career rebounds. She needs only three boards to become the sixth member of UConn's 1,000-rebound club.
Tulsa has lost five of its last seven games, including its first meeting of the season with the Huskies in Hartford. On Jan. 6, Connecticut ran away with a 95-35 victory after juniors Morgan Tuck (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and Saniya Chong (Ossining, N.Y.) added 18 points apiece. Currently, the Golden Hurricane sports a 7-13 overall record and stands sixth in The American with a 4-5 mark in league play.
The Golden Hurricane has struggled to get the win at home, going 3-7 at the Reynolds Center. Senior guard Ashley Clark leads Tulsa and is 15th in the conference with 13.2 points per game.
Through 18 games, UConn owns a +39.1 average winning margin and is shooting a stellar 52.4 percent from the floor as a team.
