Labbe Brings Home Bronze

RIO DE JANEIRO - Former Husky, Stephanie Labbe, earned a bronze medal with Team Canada Friday. This marked the first medal of a UConn Alumni in the 2016 Olympic games.
A 2008 graduate of UConn, Labbe served in net for Canada Friday in the team's 2-1 defeat over Olympic host Brazil to take home the bronze medal.
Labbe becomes the 12 thformer Husky to win a medal in the Olympics games and the first not from the United States. The others are: Ray Allen (Men's Basketball, Gold in 2000); Sue Bird (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2004, 2008 and 2012); Swin Cash (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2004, 2012); Tina Charles (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2012); Asjha Jones (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2012); Rebecca Lobo (Women's Basketball, Gold in 1996); Maya Moore (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2012); Charles Nagy (Baseball, Gold in 1988 as a demonstration sport); Emeka Okafor (Men's Basketball, Bronze in 2004); Diana Taurasi (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2004, 2008 and 2012); and Kara Wolters (Women's Basketball, Gold in 2000).
