Huskies Compete at Great Dane Classic

Final Results
Albany, N.Y. - The UConn men's track and field team competed at the Great Dane Classic on Saturday,earning multiple runner-up finishes and captured a few personal-bests.
Senior captain Michael O'Donnell (8:12.97) captured a runner-up finish in the 3000M Dash with a late burst to the finish line with teammate Patrick Begley (8:14.41, 4th).
Junior Ian Bergere claimed second place in the pole vault after having a jump off at 16' against Robert O'Biren of Columba. Freshman Todd Steuber grabbed a runner-up finish in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 16.08 M.
Sebastian Castano continued to show progress for the Huskies by moving past the 56' mark in the weight throw. His personal-best 17.09 M throw earned him third place in the event.
Will Brisman (14:56.03) secured a personal-best in the 5000 M run, helping him earn a runner-up finish. His teammate Ian Mickool (14:57.36) was right on Brisman's heels and landed a third place finish.
"With two of our top athletes sidelined (Craig Hunter and Trent Beram), a collection of veterans and newcomers stepped up for us," said head coach Greg Roy. "Overall it was a promising start to the season, especially with such a young team."
