PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior captain diver Monica Marcello and freshman swimmer Colby Prouty grabbed American Athletic Conference honors this week after an impressive Saturday meet in Storrs.
Marcello took home American Conference Female Diver of the week while Prouty secured American Conference Male Swimmer of the Week.
Marcello returned to the pool after missing the 2017-18 season with an injury and won both the one and three-meter dives, setting a pool record with a score of 309.89 in the one meter. She scored 316.87 in the three meter, as her team defeated Southern Connecticut, 175-102, and Central Connecticut State, 164-82. Both of her marks meet the NCAA Zone Diving standards and are ranked in the NCAA's top 25. Her scores rank the highest among divers in The American this year.
In his first collegiate home meet, Prouty swam for two wins in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes to help the UConn men's team capture its first dual meet victory of the season. The Huskies outlasted Southern Connecticut State 168-104. Prouty's 100 breaststroke time of 57.71 ranks top four in The American. He won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.20.
UConn returns to the pool on Saturday, Oct 27 at Army.
