STORRS, Conn. – For the second straight week, senior defender Jacob Hauser-Ramsey was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 8, as announced by the conference office this afternoon. Hauser-Ramsey now has three DPOW awards on the season.
Patrolling the Husky backline, the Seattle, Wash. native assisted the UConn defense in limiting the Bearcats to five shots on the night, including just one shot on goal. UConn's defensive unit has recorded four shutouts on the season, a feat held by only two other AAC teams.
Abdou Mbacke Thiam also received conference honors, earning a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll team. The senior scored the first goal of the night to get the offense rolling for UConn, and now has seven goals on the season.
Steffen Yeates earned his first AAC Honor Roll selection after netting his first career goal in the Saturday night win. After winning a 50-50 ball, Yeates gathered himself and fired a strike through the back of the net to add the finishing touches to the win.
Seven Huskies have garnered conference honors so far this season. The list includes Ibrahima Diop, Austin Aviza, Felix Metzler, Jacob Hauser-Ramsey, Steffen Yeates, Dayonn Harris, and Abdou Mbacke Thiam.
