No. 2 UConn Hosts SCSU in Hartford for Final Tune-Up

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 2 UConn women's basketball team will face Southern Connecticut State in the team's final exhibition of the season Thursday at 7 p.m. in the XL Center.
Thursday's game will be streamed on uconnhuskies.com. UConn's radio broadcast will be on The River 105.9.
The Huskies opened the season with an 85-53 win over Ohio State last Sunday. Senior Katie Lou Samuelson led the team with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Senior Napheesa Collier, Samuelson and junior Crystal Dangerfield are UConn's returning starters this year. The trio were named to watch lists for awards specific to their positions: Collier to Katrina McClain Award (top power forward), Samuelson to Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (top shooting guard) and Dangerfield to Nancy Lieberman Award (top point guard). The three were also named to the Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy watch list and are preseason all-conference selections.
This Saturday, UConn will face Vanderbilt in the Hall of Fame Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena at 6 p.m. The game will be the first of 15 that the Huskies play on SNY.
The Owls are 2-0 this season with wins over Post University and Bridgeport. Abby Hurlbert leads SCSU with 13.6 points per game.
After UConn's season opener, the Huskies welcomed Daniela Ciriello to the roster through Team IMPACT.
