Samuelson Named The American’s Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Katie Lou Samuelson of the top-ranked UConn women's basketball team was named the American Athletic Conference's Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday.
In two wins last week, Samuelson averaged 23.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game. Against Saint Louis last Tuesday, she scored 20 points, including five three-point baskets, and added six rebounds. Against Seton Hall, Samuelson tallied 26 points and 16 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. It also marked her career high in rebounds.
This season, the Huntington Beach, Calif., native leads UConn with 20.1 points per game and is also averaging 7.1 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game.
This is UConn's third straight conference Player of the Week honors with Napheesa Collier and Christyn Williams winning the last two weeks.
After a break for exams, the Huskies are back on the road at Oklahoma next Wednesday, Dec. 19.
