Feole Fuels No. 19 Huskies to 5-1 Win at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The No. 19 UConn baseball team grabbed a series-opening win at Memphis behind an outstanding performance from sophomore lefthander Mason Feole on Friday night at FedExPark.
Feole has seamlessly transitioned into the Huskies "Ace" of the pitching staff with another quality outing on the hill. The Wakefield, R.I. native chalked up 7.2 innings, allowed just five hits, one run and struck out nine.
Feole has rattled off nine-straight starts off allowing three runs or less and eight of the nine starts have qualified as a quality start.
The UConn offense was able to give all the support that Feole would need with a two-run first inning. Zac Susi extended his reach-base streak to 29 games with an RBI single in the first.
Mike Woodworth added a run on a sacrifice bunt up the first base line that scored Prato from third. Woodworth finished the day with his 13 multi-hit effort and drove in a pair.
Troy Stefanski extended his team-leading 14 game hit streak with a knock in the third inning.
Jacob Wallace closed out the ballgame with a four-out save. Wallace retired all four batters he faced and struck out a pair.
The Huskies look to win their fifth-straight conference series with a win in game two on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. Jeff Kersten gets the ball for the Huskies.
Notes
John Toppa captured his second three-hit game of the season and 13th multi-hit game of the season.
The Huskies are a season-high 13 games above .500 with a 26-13-1 record.
UConn has 20 road victories this season, one away from tying a program record. (21, 2010).
Jake Wallace has thrown eight-consecutive scoreless innings in his last five appearances.
