Earns Recognition With Team GPA Over 3.0
NORMAN, Okla. – The UConn golf team has been cited by the Golf Coaches Association of America and 18Birdies as one of the nation's All-Academic Teams, signifying a team Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better.
The Huskies are coming off a 2017-18 season in which they produced six Top 5 finishes, including one event championship, at the 2017 Connecticut Cup.
UConn golf is also no stranger to academic honors. The team was again named to receive an NCAA Public Recognition Award, which is given to teams posting an Academic Progress Report in the top 10 percent of teams nationally. The Huskies have been named to receive the award in all 13 years the APR has been in existence.
The Huskies will return virtually the same team for the 2018-19 season, led by rising seniors Jimmy Hervol, Nabeel Khan and Nick Harrington and redshirt junior Drake Hull.
The University of New Mexico was named the Division I 18Birdies Academic National Champion, while a total of 49 teams received the President's Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better.
18Birdies is the premier mobile and social golf platform powering the next generation of golf technology by reimagining the golf experience. 18Birdies aims to inspire golfers of all ages and skill levels by providing them tools to manage their game and motivating them through shared experiences with other golfers.
