MXC Finish 19th at Paul Short Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The UConn men's cross country team appeared in their second meet of the year on Saturday morning, finishing 19th out of the 41 participants at the Paul Short Run Invitational. The Huskies best runner for the day was Senior Kyle Brackman (Berkley Heights, N.J.) Â who finished 49th of the 359 runners in 25:15.
"Our top three runners this year were out sick or were not able to compete today. What I saw is that we have work to do and I think we can do that." Commented Head Coach Greg Roy.
"Our top three runners showed improvement from last year which was great to see. Improvement year to year is excellent."
Brackman improved his finish by 34 places compared to last year's Paul Short Run. Additionally, Sophomore Sean Parker (Bridgewater, Conn.) and Senior Kyle Barber (Fayetteville, N.Y.)Â saw improved scores from the 2017 meet. Â Parker saw an improvement of nearly 200 places as he finished 75th overall today in 25:30. While Barber improved his finish by 53 places from last year to come in 114th in 25:44.
The other top-seven Huskies today were Junior James Mas (Trumbull, Conn.), Freshamn William Brisman (Fairfield, Conn.) and James Maniscalo, and Senior Peter Garmon (Billerica, Mass.). All four placed in the top 200 runners to give the Huskies a Total score of 538.
"We are heading to the Princeton Invitational next and we will see some great teams there. We will need a good effort from these guys as our top three runners return in the next two weeks." Stated Roy looking forward. "Right now we are limited but once we are back to full strength we are sure we can aim for the Conference Championship.
