STORRS, Conn.—The UConn women's volleyball team and Head Coach Kris Grunwald have announced their upcoming spring slate which is highlighted by a pair of home matches in February and April.
To kickoff the spring slate, the Huskies host Yale on Friday, Feb. 22nd in Gampel Pavilion, which serves as an extension of the spring team practices UConn has been having.
"The focus of spring activities are pretty different from the fall. On the court, this semester there is more of a focus of individual improvement, both technically and physically. They are lifting four days a week so this semester we usually see some pretty solid progress in their physicality, especially from the freshman as they have never spent this much time in the weight room before. In the gym there is much more of a technical focus rather then the system and tactical focus. We will progress that a bit as we move through spring but the first few weeks we really break down the individual skills to help fix some technical issues or increase efficiency."

Fast forward to April, UConn has several matches with their first coming on Friday, Apr. 5th at Holy Cross. The following week the Huskies travel to Bulldogs of Yale on Saturday, Apr. 13th. The final match of the spring calendar comes on Friday, Apr. 19th vs. Harvard in Gampel Pavilion.
UConn will utilize the strategy from last spring, by not playing in all-day tournaments. The Huskies will face one opponent per day to simulate a controlled game atmosphere.
"Off the floor we will be focusing on the leadership progression. Graduating five seniors and not having anyone in the junior class we are very young. We have high quality individuals with solid work ethic and a great culture in the gym right now so it will be fun to see how we grow as a group."
