STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team boards a plane for the first time this season while playing its first American Conference road tilts of the season. The Huskies (4-5-1, 0-2) face No. 9 Memphis (10-1, 2-0) on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. ET at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex and then travel to Tulsa for a Sunday, Oct. 6 matchup at 2 p.m. ET against the Golden Hurricane (6-6, 0-2).
UConn is coming off a tough weekend to open American Conference play with a pair of 1-0 home losses to ECU and Cincinnati. The Huskies played well for large stretches of both matches but were shut out for the second and third times this season despite racking up 26 combined shots.
Randi Palacios was superb in both contests including a career-high 10 saves against the Bearcats on Sunday.Â
The Huskies look to make a statement against the top team in The American, Memphis. The Tigers are a gaudy 5-0 at home this season and have scored 30 goals while allowing just four. Clarissa Larsley leads the team and The American with nine goals.
On Sunday, UConn faces Tulsa for the seventh time in program history. The Huskies are 4-1-1 with their only loss coming last season, a 3-0 defeat on Oct. 21.
