MSOC Gets Five Named to All-Conference Teams

STORRS, Conn. – Five members of the UConn men's soccer team earned spots on the American Athletic All-Conference teams, as the league unveiled its postseason major award winners, all-conference teams and all-rookie teams Tuesday afternoon.
Senior captain Dayonn Harris garnered a selection to the All-Conference First Team after earning a nod to the second team a season ago. Harris finished second on the team with 13 points, including a team-high nine assists. He ends his UConn career with seven goals and 16 assists.
Robin Lapert and Felix Metzler earned their second-straight appearances on the All-Conference second team after their respective on-field performances this season.
Lapert played and started in all 18 games, totaling three goals and an assist to finish third on the team in points (7).
Metzler played and started in 13 games before sitting out the last five due to injury. In the games he did play, the midfielder accumulated six points on two goals and two assists.
Freshmen Moussa Wade and Ben Awashie were the final two Huskies to receive conference honors, as they were both named to the All-Rookie team. Wade played and started all 18 games at the forward position and scored his first two collegiate goals in the 6-3 win over Tulsa (Nov. 5). He ends the season with five points.
Awashie appeared in 15 contests for UConn, starting the last eight. He dished out his first assist against USF.
UConn wrapped up it's time in the American Athletic Conference with a 5-12-1 record. The Huskies will move back to the Big East and will play in the new Joseph J. Morrone Stadium that will finish up construction during the summer of 2020.
