Women's Basketball to Honor Agricultural Roots for Home Opener

The UConn Women's Basketball team will be honoring the University of Connecticut's history as an agriculture school, and current status as one of the most modern farms in the country, with Ag Day at the 2019-20 regular season home opener Sunday, November 10th at 1 p.m. when the Huskies host Cal at Gampel Pavilion.
The University of Connecticut was founded as Storrs Agricultural School in 1881 and bore names including Storrs Agricultural College and Connecticut Agricultural College during its history. The sports teams were even nicknamed the "Aggies" until 1933.
Today, the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, carries on the mission of UConn's founding. College faculty, staff and students explore the interrelationships among food, natural resources and human and animal health, seeking to connect them in a manner that is economically viable and environmentally sustainable.
Fans will be treated to a number of exciting additions to the gameday experience:
- Meet a few of UConn's heifer cows by the North Entrance from 11 a.m. โ 1 p.m.
- Arrive early to grab a free scoop of the UConn Dairy Bar's famous vanilla ice cream by the cows
- Stop by the North, East, or South entrances to claim a UConn reusable grocery tote bag and help do your part to live a sustainable life (first-come, first-served while supplies last)
- Listen during timeouts for a few "fun facts" about UConn's history as an agricultural school
- A few more surprises on the video boardโฆ
