Nelson-Ododa Named Co-American Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - UConn women's basketball sophomore forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa was named the American Athletic Conference's Co-Player of the Week Monday.
Nelson-Ododa patrolled the paint in UConn's 2-0 week that featured an 84-74 win at No. 16 DePaul and a 97-53 rout of Oklahoma. She averaged 23 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and four assists per game, shooting 81.5 percent (22-of-27) from the field.
Nelson-Ododa hit career-high totals with 27 points and 15 boards against Oklahoma on Sunday, swatting seven blocks for a season-high in the conference this season.
Against DePaul on Monday, she converted on all nine field goal attempts for 19 points, adding four rebounds, five assists and four blocks.
This is the second time this season the Winder, Ga., native has earned conference player of the week honors.
Nelson-Ododa shares the honor with UCF's Kay Kay Wright.
After a break for the holidays, the now-No. 1 Huskies host Wichita State on Jan. 2 in the XL Center at 7 p.m.
