BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UConn Huskies opened their spring break trip to Florida on Friday afternoon taking on the UAB Blazer in Boca Raton. The Huskies lost their opening match of the trip 7-0 as they fall to 7-9 in dual matches this season.
"We got off to a slow start in our first outside in match since October," stated associate head coach Reinaldo Valor. "Hank and Yili pushed a ranked doubles team at number No. 1 and we competed hard and were in most of the matches. I'm looking forward to our quick turnaround against FAU tomorrow. We need to elevate our execution and tomorrow could have a different outcome."
The Huskies tandem of senior Hank Hill (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and sophomore Yili Zheng (Shanghai, China) lost a tough battle at No. 1 doubles to the No. 47 nationally ranked team of Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky, falling 6-4.
In singles play, Hill dropped a three-setter at No. 4 to Daniel Janko, winning the first set 6-4 but falling 6-3 and 10-4.
The Huskies are right back at it Saturday afternoon when they take on Florida Atlantic.
