Collier, Samuelson Earn USBWA All-America Honors

ST. LOUIS – UConn women's basketball senior Napheesa Collier was tabbed to the USBWA All-America First Team while her classmate Katie Lou Samuelson picked up Second Team honors, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Tuesday.
The senior duo have led UConn to its 12th straight NCAA Final Four this season, as well as the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. The pair has gone 145-4 in their four seasons at Connecticut. Collier and Samuelson have combined for 4,708 career points, the most by a pair of classmates in UConn history.
This season, Collier leads the Huskies with 21.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She has 24 double-doubles on the season, the most for a UConn player. Collier is also shooting 61.5 percent from the field. The O'Fallon, Mo., native is UConn's single-season rebounds record holder with 398 this year. She was tabbed the American Athletic Conference's Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Collier was named the NCAA Tournament Albany Region Most Outstanding Player.
Samuelson is second on the team with 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. She leads UConn with 86 three pointers and has six double-doubles on the season. Samuelson was unanimously named All-American Athletic Conference First Team and was tabbed to the Albany Regional All-Tournament team.
On Monday, Collier was selected as an AP First Team All-American while Samuelson was named to the third team.
